The writings and prophecies of the Old Testament prophets ultimately point to one central figure: Jesus Christ. Their messages present richly layered and multifaceted portraits of Him, including:
ØHis Divinity as God
ØThe miraculous birth
ØHis ministry
ØHis death and subsequent resurrection
ØThe establishment of His body(The Church) on earth.
In summary, Jesus Christ stands as the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophets’ messages. The remarkable unity and coherence in their prophecies reveal that they were inspired by one and the same Spirit—the Holy Spirit of God.
Jesus Christ fulfilled these prophecies and brought them to their intended completion. In doing so, He sealed them once and for all—meaning that no one before Him or after Him can rightfully claim to fulfill what the prophets foretold. In Galatians 1:8, Paul speaking by the Holy Spirit gives a warning about the gospel.
Galatians 1:8; But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse.
Why did Paul issue such a strict and bold warning about the gospel? Because he understood the deceptive nature of the devil, as revealed in 2 Corinthians 11:14 and 1 Timothy 4:1.
2 Cor 11:14; And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
1 Tim 4:1; The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Paul’s firmness about the gospel stemmed from the reality that the devil is inherently deceptive, a truth consistently revealed throughout Scripture. In 1 Timothy 4:1, we are warned that deceitful spirits promote teachings the writer calls “doctrines of demons.” These teachings stand in direct opposition to the sound doctrine of Christ. Anyone who embraces them risks drifting away from the truth and falling into spiritual deception. Any teaching, doctrine, or gospel that does not align with what has been revealed in Scripture—or that attempts to strip Christ of His true identity as foretold in the prophecies—is not from God. Scripture makes this clear in Gal 1:8.
