Micah

Micah was a significant figure in the 8th century BCE, known for his powerful messages of judgment and hope. In Micah 1:1, it reveals the call of Micah by God to proclaim Him as a prophet among the people.

Micah 1:1; The word of the Lord that came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.”

His prophetic insight came directly from the Word of the LORD, similar to that of the other prophets in the Bible. With regards to messianic prophecies, Micah through the Spirit of God revealed the birthplace of the Messiah, among other prophecies.

Prophecies

Micah 5:2; “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel..This prophecy is famously cited in the New Testament (Matthew 2:6) as foretelling the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem

Micah 4:1–4; “In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established…Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.”

This vision of universal peace and divine instruction is echoed in Isaiah 2 and is often interpreted as describing the Messianic age.

Micah 5:4–5; “He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord…And he will be our peace…”
